National Conference on “Advancement in Communication, Electronics, Computers and Automation Technology”

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Institute of Technology, Nirma University has organised a national conference on “Advancement in Communication, Electronics, Computers, and Automation Technology” during April 29–30, 2022. The conference was exclusive for the students of UG and PG courses from the disciplines of EC, IC, CSE, and EE and was sponsored by the IEEE WIE affinity group, IEEE Gujarat section. IEEE, Antenna Section, Gujarat, ISSE, and IETE, Ahmedabad were the technical collaborators of the conference. STM Journal is the publication partner and will publish all the selected papers in the STM Journals.

The conference aimed to promote research-based innovations in the fields of Electronics and Communication, Instrumentation, Computer Science, and Information Technology. Total More than 100 delegates/students of UG /PG attended the event. There were almost 60 papers from more than 100 authors received across the country and finally 22 papers were selected for the oral presentation. The selected papers were divided into four technical sessions with a plenary talk of 45 minutes followed by an oral presentation. Looking at the current pandemic situation the entire conference was organized in online mode.

The entire conference was organised to promote women’s participation in engineering. To support the same, a panel discussion on “Work from Home: A New Paradigm for Women Professional” is organized. Women in Academic and Research organizations will be participating in the same.

The conference started at 9:15 am on April 29, 2022, through the WebEx online meeting  Mrs Minal Sampath, Scientist, SAC – ISRO, Ahmedabad inaugurated the conference as a chief guest. In the beginning, Dr  Dhaval Pujara, HoD–EC, welcomed the gathering and introduced the audience to the conference and the proceedings of the next two days.

Four tracks with the expert talks followed by oral presentation sessions were organized as per the following details:

  • Track 1: Communication, Antenna, and Microwave Engineering, Expert talk by Dr Y. N. Trivedi, Professor, EC, IT, NU
  • Track 2: Computer Vision, and Machine Learning, Expert talk by Dr Kishore Upla, Assistant Professor, SVNIT, Surat
  • Track 3: VLSI Design and Testing, Expert talk by Mr Viren Gajjar, Senior Physical Design Engineer, Meta Research Lab
  • Track 4: Embedded System Design, Expert talk by Mr Dhruv Dave, Senior Embedded Engineer, ARM, Bangalore

Two prizes per session were awarded for the best paper. The first prize of Rs. 4000/-, and the Second Prize of Rs. 2000/- were awarded other than that two special prizes for Women in Engineering were also awarded to women authors.
