The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Institute of Technology, Nirma University hosted one-week Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on, ?VLSI Chip Design Hands-on using Open-Source EDA? from December 16-20, 2019. Prof Usha Mehta and Prof Akash Mecwan coordinated the programme. The program was offered by E & ICT Academy, MNIT-Jaipur and was fully sponsored by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). The FDP was conducted by Professors from IITs, NITs, and experts from SCL-Chandigarh. The program was attended by participants from Bharati Vidyapeeth ?Pune, BNMIT-Bengaluru, Dharamsinh Desai University-Nadiad, Charusat University-Vallabh Vidyanagar, C K Pithawala Institute- Surat, Apollo Institute-Ahmedabad and Nirma University. The programme covered varied topics like Basics of RISC-V Processor-based SoC Design using MAGIC Tool, Standard Cell Library Design, Pre-layout Timing Analysis, Chip Planning and Block Level Routing using Open Source EDA, Hierarchical Placement/Routing and LVS/DRC using MAGIC and Post-Layout Timing Analysis.
