08-Jan-2025: EC Dept., Institute of Technology, Nirma University, hosted an expert lecture on ‘Paradigms in Modern Computing’ by Dr. Jonti Talukdar, Researcher at ASU Center for Semiconductor Microelectronics (ACME) and Sr. DFX Engineer at NVIDIA, USA. The lecture delved into the foundational aspects of computer architecture and its applications. Talukdar emphasized modern computing’s goals: solving problems, enhancing productivity, and improving quality of life. Approximately 200 students benefited from practical applications and case studies, including AI accelerators like Google’s Tensor Processing Units (TPUs), which demonstrated superior performance compared to traditional CPUs and GPUs.
