The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering organised a webinar on the topic, ?Computer Vision Research: From Undergraduate to PhD? on June 27, 2020, from 8:30 to 10:00 pm on Google Meet. Mr Samarth Brahmbhatt, the alumnus of the Department of ECE, delivered a talk. Mr Samarth Brahmbhatt is a computer vision and robotics researcher, and a postdoc at the Intel Intelligent Systems Lab. He graduated from the Robotics PhD Program at Georgia Tech University, USA. He also has a Master’s degree in Robotics from the University of Pennsylvania, USA. In this webinar, approximately 80 students and faculty members participated.
In the beginning, Dr Dhaval Pujara, HoD of the Department of ECE briefed the audience about the objectives and the outline of the webinar. Mr Samarth discussed his research activities. He presented the results of his research work on Thermal Image Processing for observing hand-object contact during the grasping of household devices. Samarth has also discussed the database which he used and gave directions on how the techniques can be explored in this pandemic for further research. Apart from his research, he also shared his experiences and shared a few tips on higher education in the USA. In the question-answer session, many students expressed their curiosity on the topic and Samarth answered with enough supporting technical details, which is the true success of the webinar.
