The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering organised an Internship Orientation Programme for the BTech, Semester VIII students (2020 Batch) on December 14, 2019. The introductory talk was delivered by Dr Dhaval Pujara, Head of the Department, briefing the students about the programme, objectives and the expected outcomes. He shared some of his past experiences as an intern to inspire the students and to make them understand the importance of the programme. The talk was followed by a formal presentation given by Prof Jayesh J Patel, Placement Co-Ordinator, EC Department, in which he discussed the Major Project policy, interse- weightage, review mechanism, follow-up, etc.
The next speaker was Mr Nilesh Ranpura, Project Manager ? ASIC, e-Infochips. He discussed industry expectations, the difference between academics, internship and industry/organization in the respect of training. He gave an insight into the code of conduct a student should follow while working and emphasised on bidirectional conversation through some examples.
The next speaker was Mr Jayant Joshi, HR-Head, Cypress Semiconductors. He delivered a talk on the importance of soft skills and the dos and don?ts for internship. He emphasized on being punctual, humble and yet bold with one?s ideas. He gave insights on the Development Cube (HR Management Concept) stating the clear importance of self-diagnosis. According to him performing poorly and not being aware of one?s negative attributes is the worst situation one can be in his professional career.
The final session was an interaction between the students and Alumni members of different batches. Mr Aditya Dave (2019 batch), Mr Dhaval Shah (2001 batch), Mr Rushabh Shah (2009 batch) and Mr Abhijit Ajmera (1998 Batch) were invited for this event. The session started with the self- introduction and on the whole, the session was very interactive and interesting. The interaction inspired the students to work towards achieving their career goals.
