Known for its path breaking research in VLSI and Communication, the Electronics and Communication Engineering Department established in 1995, continues to evolve in domains of entertainment, automation, healthcare systems, IoT, robotics, global communication, VLSI design and embedded systems. The Department focuses equally on academics and research, thereby enabling the students to build a strong profile. Through blended learning techniques, students are exposed to theory supported by hands-on training in the laboratories. The BTech programme is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) under Tier-I category.
The Department offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes with specialisation in three domains viz. Communications, VLSI and Embedded Systems. The Department has a pool of well-qualified and experienced faculty committed to teaching and research. The strength of the department lies in its well-equipped laboratories, meritorious students and industrial connect. To its credit, the department has designed and developed a radiation hardened chip, which can absorb radiation, prevent failure and selfheal on the failure of shielding outfits under radiation environment in space. The design has met the approval of SAC-ISRO and has been accepted for presentation at NASA Langley Research Center.
An opportunity to work with professors on live research projects, a challenging peer group, placements in top-notch companies and a disciplined teaching-learning environment are the highlights of the department.
Taking advantage of the multidisciplinary environment offered by the University, the students of the department are offered a wide range of courses by other departments of the Institute and other Institutes of the University. Some of the inter-disciplinary areas and related disciplines involved are-
Cyber Physical Systems
Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning
Bioinformatics/ Bio Electronics
Remote Sensing & its Applications
