Two-Week M.Tech Orientation Programme

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering organised a two-week Orientation Programme for newly admitted M.Tech students of VLSI Design, Embedded Systems, and Semiconductor Technology. The programme aimed to familiarise students with postgraduate academic expectations, emerging technologies, industry practices, research opportunities, and career prospects.

The programme was centrally coordinated by Dr. Vipul Chudasama, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering. The department-level schedule was prepared by Dr. Vaishali Dhare, Orientation Coordinator, in consultation with Dr. N. P. Gajjar, Head of the Department.

The orientation featured expert sessions by Mr. Chetan Shingala, Ex-Director, Cadence, Ahmedabad; Mr. Ramesh Ramaswamy, Lead Principal Engineer, Micron; and Mr. Kunal Khandelwal, MathWorks. The sessions provided students with insights into industry trends, professional expectations, and emerging opportunities in the semiconductor and technology sectors.

The students also visited eInfochips, gaining exposure to the professional work environment and industry practices.

A highlight of the programme was the Distinguished Alumnus Lecture delivered by Mr. Nileshkumar Dindor (B.Tech, 2006–2010), Deputy Director, GSEM, Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India, on “Semiconductor and VLSI Ecosystem.” The session offered valuable perspectives on India’s growing semiconductor ecosystem and the opportunities emerging in the VLSI domain.

The orientation programme provided students with a meaningful platform to interact with industry experts, academic professionals, faculty members, and alumni, giving them a strong and informed start to their M.Tech journey.
